Jonathan Adler
said it best, "Never fear orange. It is the most controversial of colors. Used throughout a room, it can
become surprisingly neutral, and yet it can be bright and
mood-enhancing!" I couldn't agree more.
Since Pantone, the design authority on color, named Tangerine Tango the Color of the Year 2012, I thought it would be appropriate to start the year of Erica's Essentials off with my must-have pop of color! Whether its persimmon, pumpkin or peach - Orange in any hue, speaks for itself. Boldly giving a vivid, stimulating color blast while at the same time warmth - which is not always the case with red tones. The complimentary color of blue (most people's go-to favorite), we forget that orange is also fun and enjoyable on the eye. It remind us of tropical flowers in the Springtime, and pumpkin harvests in the Fall. A pop of orange can ease decorating a room that just needs that one special, energizing element!
As you can see from photos throughout the blog, I don't shy away from bold color or impactful design elements. But for some, it can be hard to work bright colors into a more neutral pallet, while avoiding the juvenile dorm-like atmosphere. There is a fine line between bold and immature. Don’t be afraid of injecting color to perk up your pad with just a few accents to start. I'm sure you will start to feel the energy being juiced into your system, with just a little color of citrus!

UPDATE: 3.28.2012
I was just out on my lunch break picking up my arsenal of beauty products, and I see that Sephora has developed an ORANGE CRUSH too! They have teamed up with Pantone to celebrate the Color of the Year: Tangerine Tango, just like us here at StellaBella. I am a little late to the game, there was already a pop-up shop in Chelsea last week, but hey I am just happy to see the color orange being celebrated!
