More Sold Magazine Stories for 2017

In the beginning of 2017, I had no idea I would have as large a part of Sold Magazine as I do today. In review of this crazy year, my time was spent mostly in this project, and although StellaBella posts diminished, it was great practice for the type of writing I've been contributing to the magazine.

I thought the other morning, I've written more this year than I have since college! I was a dance major, so we didn't have much paperwork, but we actually did write a lot. As much of a liberal arts college that MMC was, we learned to express ourselves with our writing, and paint a picture with our words.

I started StellaBella in 2009, and dusted off those skills again.  Here we are 8 years later, and I am giving highlights on StellaBella about a NYC Street Art Magazine that I was most recently appointed Editor.  It has been an exciting year.  The 1st half of interviews and artist spotlights from 2017 were summarized here, but I was just warming up.  Below are links, and my favorite shot from the stories I wrote, shot and participated in from the 2nd half of the year. Consider this my StellaBella summary for 2017, look out 2018 - here I come.

Ramiro invited me to his studio in early January.  I had no idea what to do with the photos, and beginning of an interview/story. As Sold fell into place in April, I made my second visit to Ramiro's studio in July, and we put together my 1st "In The Lab" post. This story also included an exclusive reveal of Ramiro's rooftop with a special message to the POTUS.

Over the Summer months, I teamed up with my friend Nicole Gordon while she interviewed 3 amazing artists.  Each piece is an in depth interview with Nicole with my behind-the-scene shots during their visit.

In September, The Sold Crew took its 1st road trip. I started with an interview with the curator's of the Denver CRUSH Festival, 2 collab posts, and a visit to the International Church of Cannibus!  The 1st of my 2 longer form stories, my personal account of spending a week with the infamous The London Police.

Bruno Smokey & Shalak Attack were my 2nd feature. These 2 love birds make collaborating look easy. I had a beautiful time with them in Denver, and was so happy to be able to write this piece about their love story.

When I got back to NYC for the Fall, I was re-inspired to make Sold Magazine great. It has been a huge under taking, and daily content takes focus and determination. It also takes teamwork. For my next 2 posts, I worked with my team. I covered the BIG Turtle Caps event for John Domine while he was out of town, with additional photos from Kristy Calabro.

And when approached by a local Brooklyn yoga studio, I jumped at the chance to help out AJ LaVilla get some coverage.

To close out the year, I was invited to another studio visit. Unlike Ramiro's Bushwick studio, Layercake has been creating in a high security building.  4 WTC was my location for this behind-the-scenes look at what this exciting artist was going to bring to Art Basel Miami.
